BTW, none of my business, but are you and your wife speaking to him in just Japanese? Just English? Both?
I’m speaking to him in English, and she in Japanese. Of course, we speak to each other in Japanese, even in front of him. This is a habbit I’ve tried to break, but it’s really, really, hard.
I figure he’ll get “kitchen English” from me, but the rest of his environment is so slanted towards Japanese that I’m resigned to ponying up for international school if I want him to attain true fluency in English.
