Well, I’d like to believe the movie (rightly) didn’t win because it didn’t deserve to, but, stop me if you’ve seen this one, Steve Miller has interesting commentary. And if it’s the case Steve’s right, I can’t say it’s really all that surprising. These are the same people who in the same breath condemn Bush as an imperialist cowboy and then claim to dislike Brokeback Mountain because it tarnishes the “iconic” image of the cowboy.

Hard to tell. Looking for profound meaning in the Oscars always strikes me as a bit pointless anyway, but Steve Miller’s post did seem plausible.
